SILK AND THE BODY

Today we are bombarded by so many adverts telling us what is good for us that we hardly know what to believe. Some of these things are flash-in-the pan, here today and gone tomorrow. With silk the situation is somewhat different. Silk is a fabric that was first produced some five thousand years ago, so its track record is second to none!

Silk is a natural fabric, made from the cocoon of a silk moth. There are many different types of silk produced today to be used for many different purposes but, as we are thinking here of the relationship between silk and health, we can only consider one type of silk, mulberry silk. Mulberry silk worms are reared in a controlled environment and fed entirely on mulberry leaves. Mulberry silk is the pinnacle of silk production and, health wise, it is better for us than any other type of fabric produced, particularly when it is made into bedding such as silk-filled duvets and mattress toppers as these envelope our bodies with the healing properties of silk for the entire length of time we spend in bed each night.

The first thing you will notice when you sleep in mulberry silk-filled bedding is how silky soft and light it is. It snuggles around your body like thistledown so that there are no cold spots, giving you a better night`s sleep. A good night`s sleep can keep us healthier and happier, better able to deal with whatever life throws at us.

Silk is a formed from a natural protein so it is logical that it is sympathetic to our bodies. It also has the wonderful property of being able to regulate our body temperature. It draws away moisture, keeping us comfortable. When the ambient temperature is hot, our silk duvet will keep us cool and when it is cold, it will keep us warm.

As many celebrities know, a mulberry silk-filled pillow is also good for our skin. The silk contains amino acids which seep into our skin throughout the night, keeping our bodies, and when using a silk-filled pillow too, our face wrinkle free for longer. Using a mulberry silk filled pillow is also good for our hair, leaving it sleek and shiny.

Silk is an amazing fabric. To feel and look good, sleep under silk bedding!
